Hi march mommys! Thank you for all the love prayers and support! Ive had a rough few days but I'm feeling almost myself tonight! I don't have a fever anymore and my heart rate is almost normal! My daddy is sleeping over with me tonight so mommy can get some rest! But when mommy came to visit me tonight, I played with her!

Carter update (sad)

So, we finished the first round of chemo( no more chemo until September) he was still looking so healthy. We were feeling very optimistic .
But things quickly changed.
Saturday, he came down with diarrhea, then he was sleeping more and very pale.
Sunday he started refusing to eat, and vomiting yellow stomach bile
Monday, still refusing to eat, now won't take the soother or his teethers. He would only put his tumb in the side of his mouth. His drool was very slimey (he now has mouth sores from the chemo- dr said they are like canker sores, but filling his mouth and throat) at night he spiked a fever of 104.3 and his heart rate was about 190bpm (very high)
He went to the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) and was hooked up to morphine, 3 antibiotics, nutrition, saline, through IVs. While 5 doctors were poking and testing him, he was not moving, eye closed, buy moaning. This was the breaking point for me when I realized he may not make it. His torso and head were hot to touch, Nurses would put a cold cloth on his head, and in 5 mins the cloth was hot! His legs from the knee down were ice cold to touch, his arms from the elbow down were ice cold. His little body was slowly shutting down. But he is such a fighter! His fever went down, his arms an legs got warmer.
His fever is now 100.2, and his heart rate is 125bmp
He is back in his room! He is still very sleepy, is only awake for at most 10 mins at a time, but he needs his rest and is now responsive.
He also has a tube that goes in his nose to his tummy and the other end is a bag, instead of throwing up the bile it now goes into the bag.
All this is due to an infection that he got from the bacteria in his belly(everyone has it, but he had no immune system )
He played with a rattle today! So that was a big happy point of the day!
Thank you all for your ongoing support through carters journey

Pics/update on Carter

So now we are in isolation because his red/white blood counts are too low tht he was like no immune system. He is on a feeidng rube because he's not eating enough, he had a blood transfusion yesterday. But with all of this, he is still in good spirits! He is such a trooper! We are so proud and so lucky to have such a little fighter!
Unwanted to share some pictures with you before he starts loosing his hair, as well as to show how
Smiley he still is!
(these are all before the feeding tube was put in yesterday)

Carter moved into the hospital last night

:'(
So he has a rare case of acute myeloid leukemia .
We were admitted to the hospital last night at 9. This morning he has surgery (got a hikman to anyone who knows) and start aggressive chemo tomorrow. Sadly we will not be going home for at least 8-9 months.

Carter's Cancer Update

So they found that the tumor in his tesie was a secondary tumor, but could not did out where the cancer started as he does not show ANY signs if being sick. The doctors were stumped. So they took some samples of bone marrow and ran tests. They also sent some off to St judes Childrens hospital in the states (we live in canada) and Toronto sick kids. Turns out he has acute Myeloid leukemia. They are still bit sure which stage (they are waiting for the finalized results) but should know in a week or so. They said he will need chemo. For now, they are sending him Thursday for a bone scan. Then Tuesday he will have an echocardiograph ( looks at how his wary functions), a ct scan and send him home with a catheter and bag for 24hrs ( they need enlarge urine sample).
My heart is breaking. I am glad he is so young and resilient to everything but at the same time no family or baby should ever have to go through this! It's still so hard to believe my baby boy has cancer! Ge looks and acts so healthy!

Carter's Cancer

Well... The dr officially told us today our 3.5 month old has cancer :'(
They are still nit quite sure what type it is, they say the tumor was a secondary tumor. So te cancer started somewhere else before the tumor appeared. They said he has had it before birth.
They think it may be cancer in his blood (there are a few types if blood cancer) so on Tuesday they will be doing another procedure :( they are taking a sample of his bone marrow. Then we will know what treatment to do.
I think it finally kicked in today, as me, my MIL (we are very close!) and mom were sitting in the Childrens cancer ward, and I saw all the other kids with cancer there.
Evven though I know he will be okay, I am absolutly terrified
